Make a booking : GDPR and your business

The Swan Hotel, Market Street, Wotton-under-Edge GL12 7AE, on March 23rd 2018 at 7am.

GDPR will affect your business no matter how small it is. It’s the biggest shake up of the Data Protection laws in 20 years.

It's an EU directive and despite Brexit the Government has decided to implement it in the UK from 25th May 2018.

A breakfast at the Swan will be followed by a special presentation designed by two of your Chamber Committee Members who just happen to be fully conversant with the new regulations.

In just 20 minutes Claire Wilkinson (who is Head of Compliance for a lender and who has written her company's policies and procedures documents for the implementation of GDPR) and Linda Cohen (a Public Relations consultant) aim to dispel some of the myths and provide some practical guidance.

GDPR will affect all firms big and small that hold personal data, such as names addresses phone numbers and emails for clients /customers. For many the changes won't be too onerous but firms should be aware of what they need to do.

These new regulations will also affect virtually any business that employs staff. The thinking is that contracts of employment will have to be changed to reflect some new requirements. The presentation will give some guidance on what will be required.

It's attracting huge publicity and there is a lot of hype and mystery surrounding it. Many firms are employing consultants to give advice at a considerable cost.

However, your Chamber is giving you this guidance for free.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions both on the day after the presentation and also (preferably) by emailing them ahead of the meeting. Copies of the slides will also be available.

The special breakfast meeting is to be held at the Swan Hotel on Friday 23rd March at 7am for a sit down at 7:30. The cost of the breakfast is £10 per member and guests will be welcomed.

For planning purposes we need numbers by Monday 19th March so book here and now to avoid disappointment.
